Sculpted Ceramic Snail

sold out

These ceramic snails are a joy to make, and just a fantastic little addition to any surface they are put on. A friend said "I don't like slugs, but these are really cute" so its sure to charm anyone who even remotely likes them!

Made from white midfire stoneware, these pieces were shaped, hand carved, and decorated with colored slip. They were fired, glazed with a transparent, food safe glaze, and then fired for a second time.

The ceramics in this set are inspired by mushrooms, and the forests they inhabit. While the main focus of the set was on sculpture, this collection also explored a more minimal application of colored slips, while experimenting with brushstrokes and texture.
